Jubitz Travel Center Integrates History with Truck Display in New Showroom

August 12, 2010

PORTLAND, OR – A dynamic exhibit highlighting the history of Jubitz Corporation and the commercial transportation industry is being unveiled in a new Showroom at the Jubitz Travel Center.  Over the next 6 months, Jubitz will be working with Formations, Inc., a Portland-based firm, on the development and installation of the display.  Formations, Inc. is a leader in interpretive exhibit planning and design, whose projects include the Columbia River Maritime Museum, the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville, KY, Mt. St. Helens Forest Learning Center, and the National John Steinbeck Center in Salinas, CA, to name a few.  More information on their projects can be found at www.formationsinc.com.

Currently on loan from the Pacific Northwest Truck Museum of Brooks, OR, and displayed in the Jubitz Showroom is a 1916 Moreland Stake Rack Truck.  It was one of only 15 produced, and is believed to be the only left in existence today.  The Showroom also features a 1940 Marmon Herrington, and a 1954 Bubble Nose Freightliner.  Jubitz will periodically rotate the display of trucks and artifacts from the Pacific Northwest Truck Museum to provide customers with interesting, historical perspectives and themes, showcasing different aspects of the Northwest transportation industry.  Future Showroom plans will include collaboration with local trucking partners, showcasing their relevant histories and contributions to the Northwest commercial trucking industry.

“This exhibit experience truly conveys the values, traditions, historical and contemporary experiences of Jubitz Corporation and the Northwest transportation industry.  It is great storytelling not only for the trucking audience, but for all ages and backgrounds,” says Fred Jubitz, President and CEO.

Founded in 1952 as a truck leasing company, Jubitz Travel Center has been a fixture in the Northwest and national commercial transportation business since locating to its current North Portland location in 1958.  It is consistently recognized as one of the top ten truck stops in America.  The Jubitz Portlander Inn & Marketplace complex features a 100-room hotel, a 24-hour full-service restaurant, a live music Lounge, an 80-seat movie theater, a gas station and a convenience store, as well as a hair salon, a chiropractor, a shoe/boot repair shop and a Laundromat.  It has become a favorite destination for professional drivers and local residents alike.
