Jubitz Travel Center Unveils Historic Logging & Log Trucks Display In Showroom

February 16, 2011

PORTLAND, OR – Jubitz has unveiled a new display themed “Logging & Log Trucks of the West,” featuring photos, artifacts and historic log trucks in the new Showroom at the Jubitz Travel Center. This is part of a dynamic exhibit highlighting the history of Jubitz Corporation and the commercial transportation industry which is being developed over the next several months.

Artifacts, photos and stories depict how logging in the Northwest has evolved over the years. Displayed in the Jubitz Showroom is a 1918 GMC, owned by the Oregon Antique Powerland Museum Association, and a 1951 Federal owned by Fred Heller. The Showroom also features a 1948 International and a 1950 Kenworth, both on loan from the Pacific Northwest Truck Museum of Brooks, Oregon. Visitors can see these trucks and artifacts on display now through the end of May, and at a special Open House taking place at the Jubitz Travel Center, 10350 N. Vancouver Way, Portland, OR, on Thursday, March 3rd from 4-6pm.

“Logging is one of the most hazardous occupations in the U.S., and this exhibit really brings to life the experiences of the men who have risked their lives to bring this important commodity to consumers every day. It is great storytelling not only for the trucking audience, but for all ages and backgrounds,” says Fred Jubitz, President and CEO. Jubitz will periodically rotate the display of trucks and artifacts in the Showroom to provide customers with interesting, historical perspectives and themes showcasing the Northwest transportation industry.

Founded in 1952 as a truck leasing company, Jubitz Travel Center has been a fixture in the Northwest and national commercial transportation business since locating to its current North Portland location in 1958.
