Jubitz Corporation Green Initiatives
Jubitz Corporation is committed to integrating its successful commercial transportation service business with a healthy environment, including compliance with environmental laws. Current initiatives by the company include the following.
Biodiesel Offerings. Jubitz offers ultra-low sulfur B-2 Biodiesel fuel through its main fuel lanes and B-20 Biodiesel for retail and commercial cardlock sales at its gas and biodiesel fuel islands. Fuel delivered by Jubitz Fleet Services on-site delivery service within the city of Portland, OR, is currently a minimum blend of B-5 Biodiesel. Our new stand-alone fuel rack facility added in 2009 includes an AccuLoad™ system which allows Jubitz to custom blend Biodiesel fuel for customers to meet their needs and environmental requirements.
Paper Products Recycling. Jubitz contracts with its vendors to recycle paper and cardboard generated from its operating businesses as well as Jubitz Administrative offices.
Employer Commuter Option (ECO) Program. Jubitz Corporation has adopted an ECO program for reducing single-car commutes by employees to work. The program includes construction of a Jubitz bus shelter for local TriMet bus service, and the availability of bus schedules and bus passes through its Human Resources office. A monthly "Commuter Corner" article in the company newsletter promotes alternatives to single-car commuting. Since beginning its program, Jubitz has reduced single-car commute trips for its businesses by over 7%.
No Idle Truck Parking. In coordination with Shorepower Technologies, Jubitz has designated 35 truck parking spaces as "no idle" areas offering plug-in electrical service without the necessity of truck idling to power drivers' needs while parked. This 'win-win' proposal reduces emissions to the air while offering savings to drivers from reduced fuel consumption.
Stormwater Management. 15 acres of paved parking at our Jubitz Travel Center produces large quantities of stormwater during rainy periods. Road grit and other potential pollutants from parked commercial vehicles can be carried by stormwater to local community waters. To prevent the discharge of these pollutants to the adjacent Columbia Slough Watershed in Portland, Oregon, Jubitz Travel Center retrofit the site with a stormwater treatment train provided by StormwateRx LLC including an Aquip® Enhanced Stormwater Filtration System and a Purus™ Bacteria Polishing System.

Electric Vehicle Charging Stations. Jubitz is actively exploring available programs for the installation of charging stations for both Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) and Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) as such begin to appear in the traveling public. Charging stations will be incorporated into Jubitz's own use of electronic vehicles for Portlander Inn hotel shuttle services, as well as on-site Security and maintenance vehicles once such vehicles are available in the marketplace.
